The OnePlus 6T has escaped any kind of big controversy till date, but that might be about to change soon. Some owners of the handset claim that they can see a weird screen glitch in which a “wave” of brightly colored pixels travel up and down the screen.
The strange problem seems to be affecting a handful of users, with many of them taking to OnePlus’ forums to highlight the issue. One person says that it occurs after a screen unlock. A wave of pixels turn pink/purple throughout the screen, moving from top to bottom. Others say it can begin from the bottom as well, so there’s no clear pattern.
It’s hard to pin down any specific trigger for the glitch since everyone seems to have their own unique experience with it. It appears to occur most often on the lock screen when the OnePlus 6T is being opened via Face Unlock or Screen Unlock.
OnePlus 6T Screen Tearing?
You can see it in action in the video above. Some have suggested that this is screen tearing, a phenomenon where the content on the panel is not in sync with the display’s refresh rate. If that is the case, then it’s probably a hardware issue. Folks have tried to factory reset their OnePlus 6T, but this doesn’t seem to help.
It’s not clear how widespread the screen glitches are or what can be done to resolve it. Anyone who’s affected should try and get in touch with OnePlus support. They should ideally provide you with a replacement. One of the users in the company’s forums claimed that the staff asked him for video proof, so be prepared to show some evidence of the problem.
