Right on cue, OnePlus has announced a special edition of its latest flagship smartphone, the OnePlus 6T. This time around, it’s partnering with car maker McLaren to launch a new model with a racing-focused twist.
OnePlus is officially unveiling the OnePlus 6T McLaren Edition on December 11 in London, followed by another event on December 12 in Mumbai. It’s not giving away any details about it at the moment. MySmartPrice claims to have some insider information about the smartphone.
OnePlus 6T McLaren Edition RAM Powerhouse
It seems the OnePlus 6T McLaren Edition might pack a whopping 10GB of RAM. Most Android phones max out at 8GB, including the regular OnePlus 6T. Some would say 10GB of RAM is a bit of an overkill considering most smartphones do fine without so much memory. Who knows, perhaps the brand has come up with an effective way to utilize all that extra RAM.
It certainly won’t hurt to have it around, if only for bragging rights and faster speeds. The same report states that the OnePlus 6T McLaren Edition will have 256GB of room inside. That’s not a big surprise since the regular variant already has a 256GB option.
OnePlus will probably crank out a limited number of these phones. If the past is any indication, the device will be enclosed in a box full of McLaren goodies and covers. It’ll probably have the Formula One team’s logo at the back, just like previous special edition phones had the Avengers or Star Wars logo.
The OnePlus 6T McLaren Edition will likely cost a bit more than the OnePlus 6T. The ultimate 8GB/256GB version goes for Rs 45999, while the entry-level 6GB/128GB one is available at Rs 37999. We’ll find out everything officially once the device arrives on December 11.
