Samsung’s foldable phone is almost certainly coming next year, but there’s still so much we don’t know about it. For instance, a lot of folks assumed it was going to be called the Galaxy X, but Chinese Twitter tipster MMDDJ dismissed that recently.
He later sent out another tweet which simply said “Hello, Galaxy F!” and nothing else. A Twitter user asked him to provide some more details about its price range, to which he replied that the Galaxy F would be super high-range.
Samsung Galaxy F History
As pointed out by SamMobile, this isn’t the first time the Galaxy F has come up in the rumor mills. Back in 2013, there were rumors of a “super premium” Galaxy F lineup to go along with the Galaxy S and Galaxy Note flagships. This clearly didn’t happen, but things are looking very different now.
Based on speculation so far, Samsung’s flexible phone is being prepared as a third flagship line. It’s going to be very expensive, perhaps even hitting the heights of a $2000 price tag. The Galaxy F fits the bill for both those factors. Plus, one can easily see how F might stand for foldable or flexible.
Making things even more interesting is another frequent Chinese Twitter leakster, Ice Universe. He initially posted a tweet saying that the Galaxy F would be an entirely new device for the Chinese market. However, he deleted that tweet and put up a fresh post where he said that SamMobile was correct in its assessment.
MMDDJ claims Samsung is also working on Galaxy R and Galaxy P handsets just for China. Who knows, perhaps this is all a red herring and the Galaxy F isn’t a foldable phone but a China-exclusive high-end device like the W series of premium flip phones. Rumors will probably keep pouring in about this and we’ll keep you updated as and when they arrive.
