At long last, Xiaomi has officially launched its new sub-brand Poco in India. The first phone out of the gate is the Poco F1, a speed-focused handset with liquid cooling tech and a Snapdragon 845 processor.
Xiaomi has been teasing the Poco F1’s affordability for a while and it’s come through on its promise with a starting price tag of Rs 20999 for the 6GB/64GB option. Next up is the 6GB/128GB model at Rs 23999. An 8GB/256GB variant goes for Rs 28999.
For those who want to spend Rs 1000 more on an Armoured Edition of the smartphone, Xiaomi has one ready for them at Rs 29999. Instead of the polycarbonate back found on the others, this iteration has tough DuPont Kevlar aramid fiber to protect against damage.
Xiaomi Poco F1 Highlights
At Rs 20999, the Poco F1 is much cheaper than Snapdragon 845-running rivals like the Rs 34999 OnePlus 6 and Rs 29999 Asus ZenFone 5Z. The Xiaomi phone is also trying to challenge expensive gaming handsets with a LiquidCool technology that makes sure the device keeps temperatures low even during heavy-duty gaming sessions.
Another key advantage is the fairly large 4000mAh battery, said to last for over 30 hours of talk time. Plus, the unit won’t take hours to fuel up thanks to Qualcomm’s Quick Charge 3.0 and an 18W fast charger.
As for photography, there’s a 12MP + 5MP AI dual camera at the back equipped with dual pixel autofocus and a large 1.4um pixel sensor. The 20MP selfie shooter up front is accompanied by an infrared light sensor and infrared lens so that Face Unlock works even in the dark.
