Nokia 1, Nokia 7 Plus images leak

The Nokia 1 and Nokia 7 Plus have both become the subject of leaks just a few weeks before the pair make its debut at the MWC 2018. Reliable tipster Evan Blass has shared official-looking press renders of the two, while Vtechgraphy has gotten hold of a live image of the latter.

Starting off with the Nokia 7 Plus, it seems the press renders and hands-on snap match up for the most part. Both feature the same tall 18:9 screen, although there are significant bezels at the bottom and top. The most interesting revelation comes via the back, since it clearly has the Android One symbol emblazoned on it.

This will make the Nokia 7 Plus not only the first 18:9 aspect ratio-sporting phone in HMD Global’s portfolio, but also its first Android One handset. While all the Nokia smartphones released so far have run on an almost-pure version of Android, none feature completely stock software with guaranteed updates from Google.

Google is also a prominent part of the Nokia 1 since the ultra-cheap smartphone runs on the company’s Oreo-based Android Go OS. The program basically allows phones with basic specs to function smoothly on the latest software the search giant has to offer, helping things along with a bevy of lite apps like Gmail Go and Maps Go.

The Nokia 1 looks extremely basic, even for an entry-level phone. There’s no home button or fingerprint scanner and it looks to be a plastic affair. There’s a chance the back is removable, just like things used to be in the brand’s heyday. It seems color options will range from black and red.

The Nokia 1 and Nokia 7 Plus sport the date February 26 and 25, respectively, on its home screen. The is latter is presumably the date both will make its first appearance since HMD Global has issued invites for an event on that day.
