We’ve seen quite a few renders of the Galaxy S10 series over the past couple of weeks. They usually feature the same basic design of a nearly bezel-less screen with a hole for the selfie camera at the top-right corner and a thin ribbon at the bottom.
However, a new leak suggests something a bit different. Twitter leakster Ice Universe has shared images of a screen protector and concept render of the Galaxy S10 Lite, the 5.8-inch budget model with a flat display. It seems the phone might be going for a more iPhone-esque look with a uniform bezel all around.
iPhone Vs Galaxy
The main factor distinguishing the Galaxy S10 Lite from an iPhone is its front-facing lens. It’s up to you to decide whether you prefer a notch or a hole. Most border-free phones have a chin because of how complicated and expensive it is to tuck the bottom of the panel into the phone and hide it from sight.
Apple has managed it with the iPhone and now it looks like Samsung is going to follow suit. Interestingly, the latter is the one making these chin-less screens for the former. Maybe it picked up some tips along the way, or perhaps it had the capabilities all along but was waiting for its 10-year anniversary to arrive.
Of course, it’s important to remember that this is a leak and can’t be taken as definitive proof. If you want to see what the Galaxy S10 might look like, check out the Galaxy A8s. The recently-launched mid-ranger has a punch hole-style camera at the front and a chin.
Ice Universe has also hinted that the Galaxy S10 lineup will retain the headphone jack. He posted a video of a case to prove his point. This will be a big relief to folks who were worried about the 3.5mm port’s existence. The Galaxy A8s doesn’t have one, so maybe Samsung sees it as a premium feature now instead of a standard part.
