Google Pixel 3 XL leaks are a dime a dozen at this point, sprouting up all over the place thanks to a number of pre-release units getting sold in the black market. This new one is a bit special though, since someone appears to have left the phone at the back of a taxi.
A Lyft driver was lucky enough to find the device in the back seat of his car a few days ago after he got done dropping off a couple of passengers. At first, he thought his Pixel 2 XL had somehow landed up there, but he soon realized that it wasn’t his handset given its notch design.

Plus, the Google logo at the back and identifying stickers further strengthens its authenticity. The date seen in the snaps above is September 1, so this is definitely a recent development.
The taxi driver returned the Pixel 3 XL to the owner a few minutes after he found it, but not before he took a couple of photos of the handset and sent them to Android Police. His story sounds plausible and the device itself looks fairly real.
This isn’t the first time the Pixel 3 XL has been spotted in the wild. People managed to click a few pictures of it in a Toronto streetcar and later on in a Toronto subway last month. It seems Google employees are traveling on all sorts of transportation systems and helping the flood of Pixel 3 XL leaks along.
Some folks are beginning to get suspicious at this point. After all, this is a major flagship phone. It’s not in character for Google to be this careless, unless this is some kind of long con where it’s trying to trick people into thinking this is the Pixel 3 XL before unveiling a completely different device on October 9.
