Rumors about the Nokia 9 are slowly heating up, with the latest piece of information providing a hint at its name. It seems HMD Global might try to invoke some nostalgia by calling it the Nokia 9 PureView.
This isn’t completely surprising since HMD Global snapped up the PureView brand name from Microsoft a few months ago. Nobody knew if the company was planning on using the moniker though, which is where this fresh leak comes in.
Nokia 9 PureView Launch Date
Noted tipster Roland Quandt has tweeted that the actual marketing name of HMD Global’s next flagship is going to be Nokia 9 PureView. He believes it’s going to arrive soon. This goes against the current wisdom which dictates that the smartphone will be launched at the MWC in February 2019.
In a later tweet, Quandt says he doesn’t “buy into that whole ‘next year’ thing.” He points out that there’s a good reason he was able to post the name right now. He’d be very surprised if HMD Global actually postponed the unveiling.

HMD Global currently has two events lined up. One is taking place on October 4 in London and the other on October 11 in India. Most reports believe that the Nokia 7.1 Plus or Nokia 7.1 will make its debut at the former and make its way to India at the latter.
The Nokia 9 PureView has an outside chance of appearing on either of those two dates. Some have claimed that the phone got delayed because officials believed it wasn’t perfect. This apparently angered some engineers who went on to leak the phone to the world.
This could all be made up though. It looks there’s no other option but to wait for official confirmation. The PureView brand is pretty beloved among fans who loved its high-end photography setup. The Nokia 9 PureView will have to live up to their expectations. It just might, thanks to its crazy penta-lens camera module.
