We haven’t heard that much about the Nokia 2 in a while, leaving HMD Global’s cheapest smartphone on the backburner for a time. That’s not the case anymore since 2 new sources have revealed some interesting information about the handset.
The first comes via the ever reliable Evan Blass who tweeted out 2 images of the alleged Nokia 2. If accurate, it will mean that one variant is set to boast of a black front and white back and the other a white front and black back. It could go the other way too of course, given that previous leaks have shown black-on-black color schemes.
In any case, the photos confirm rumors about the Nokia 2’s enormous bezels and on-screen navigation keys. There’s no home button to be found here. The date on the screen suggests that the handset will be launched on October 5.
Leakster Roland Quandt also has some intriguing information about the Nokia 2. He dug through an earlier FCC listing for the TA-1029 AKA Nokia 2 and found that the phone would boast of a large 4000mAh battery. This is a lot more than the roughly 3000mAh batteries residing in the Nokia 5, Nokia 6 and Nokia 8 and easily beats out the Nokia 3’s 2630mAh one.
A 4000mAh battery combined with an entry-level Snapdragon 210 SoC should guarantee hours of battery life, if not a lot of processing power. The Nokia device will probably be a budget phone through-and-through, meant to attract first-time smartphone adopters and people who do only the most basic of tasks.
