Micromax has launched the Canvas Spark 2 Plus in India, seeking to attract the attention of first-time smartphone users. It’s put the phone up for sale exclusively via Snapdeal and has slapped it with a Rs 3999 price tag.
The Micromax Canvas Spark 2 Plus is the first product by the company to run on Android 6.0 Marshmallow. It’s definitely an advantage within the entry-level market segment where most handsets are still running Lollipop and promises for an upgrade never materialize.
However, the Canvas Spark 2 Plus doesn’t offer 4G connectivity. This reduces its future-readiness to a certain extent, especially considering how widespread LTE support has become among affordable devices these days. The brand is looking to maximize the appeal of the phone among the masses in India by adding support for 10 regional languages.
Coming to its specs, the Micromax offering displays its visuals through a 5-inch FWVGA (854 x 480p) screen. Its daily exertions are handled by a 1.3GHz quad-core processor of unknown make and 1GB of RAM. The phone gets its engines running with the help of a 2000mAh battery which is supposed to last for 350 hours of standby time and 17 hours of talk time.
With regards to its photography skills, the Canvas Spark 2 Plus carries a 5MP rear-facing camera accompanied by LED flash. It’s paired with a 2MP front-facing snapper for selfies and video calls. Users can take advantage of 8GB of in-built memory for their storage requirements and add 32GB of extra memory in case they run out.
