HTC One M10 name confirmed, camera sample emerges

HTC One M10 Name

A fresh leak right from HTC’s website has seemingly confirmed the name One M10 for the brand’s highly anticipated flagship. There’s also a new camera sample to pore over and try to infer some details from.

The One M10 got its name leaked via an HTC online survey form where it popped up as an option inside a drop-down list of products. The name had been hinted at before in a teaser image posted by the company’s Twitter handle. The picture depicted a metal phone with chamfered edges and was captioned with the hashtag ‘powerof10’.

This was later followed by HTC confidently touting that the upcoming device’s shooter would offer a very compelling camera experience. The sample photo uploaded by TechTastic doesn’t really show this off given it’s a snap of a grimy keyboard. Still, it’s fairly clear and showcases a lot of details like the dirt and letter markings.

The site has also put up the image’s EXIF data which reveals that the lens comes with an aperture of f/1.9, wider than the HTC One M9’s f/2.2 aperture. However, it’s not on-par with other flagships such as the f/1.7 aperture of the Samsung Galaxy S7 or the f/1.8 aperture of the LG G5. Moreover, the photo was shot in a 16:9 format with a resolution of 2250 x 4000p.

According to GSM Arena, if the picture had been shot in 4:3 it would be a 3000 x 4000p 12MP snap. This lines up with earlier rumors which had pointed towards such a camera setup for the One M10. Speculation had further indicated it would be accompanied by laser autofocus and optical image stabilization.

The HTC One M10 may get announced on April 11 this year. Stay tuned for more on the handset till it’s officially out.
