Microsoft announces event on October 6, Lumia 950, 950 XL and Surface Pro 4 incoming

Microsoft has just started sending out media invites for an event that is to take place on October 6, and it wouldn’t be too farfetched to believe that the Lumia 950, the Lumia 950 XL and the Surface Pro 4 will be unveiled at this gathering. All these devices will run on the Windows 10 platform, as is being suggested by the official invite that can be spotted in the space down below.

Apart from the three above mentioned offerings, a successor to the Microsoft Band fitness accessory is also expected to make its way into this event. The Lumia 950 and Lumia 950 XL will of course be the main attractions on October 6, and it will be interesting to see how the company’s Windows 10 platform has been adopted by these smartphones.

We have been given several hints about their specifications by past leaks. The new Lumia 950, codenamed Talkman, is expected to ship with a 5.2-inch Quad HD display. It is being said to have been equipped with a Snapdragon 808 processor and a 3000mAh battery.

The Lumia 950 XL (Cityman) on the other hand, will apparently be going for a 5.7-inch Quad HD monitor and a Snapdragon 810 chipset. It will be kept going by a slightly larger 3300mAh battery moreover. Both these handsets will supposedly feature iris scanners for security purposes.

According to The Verge, the Surface Pro 4 will be retaining its predecessor’s form factor and charging mechanism in order for the last-gen accessories to stay relevant. Its internals are of course expected to be changed, while a fingerprint scanner is expected to make its way onto its front.
