Xiaomi Redmi Note 2 and Redmi Note 2 Prime launched along with MIUI 7

As had been predicted, Xiaomi has also launched its Redmi Note 2 range of smartphones alongside the MIUI 7 software today. The new phablet series will be made available in the form of three different variants, with one offering TDD-LTE + TD-SCDMA support, the other TDD-LTE + FDD-LTE support and the third one (suffixed Prime) going for TDD-LTE + FDD-LTE support as well as higher storage and a speedier CPU.

The Xiaomi Redmi Note 2 has turned out to be a lot like the device it was predicated to be by the countless leaks preceding its actual launch. This phone runs MIUI 7 right out of the box. This software has been unveiled only for China right now, and a global version will be showcased at New Delhi on August 19.

The base model of the Redmi Note 2 comes in the form of TDD-LTE + TD-SCDMA and TDD-LTE + FDD-LTE versions. It features a 5.5-inch 1080p full HD display, and runs on a 2GHz octa core MediaTek Helio X10 processor. There’s 2GB worth of RAM onboard, apart from 16GB worth of storage. Although there’s no mention of a microSD card slot yet, it’ll be safe to assume that it will indeed be present on the device.
