This is the HTC One M8 running Windows Phone 8.1 in all its glory

The fact that the HTC One M8 is going to receive the Windows Phone 8.1 treatment soon is obvious from all those recent leaks, but we now have sort of a pseudo-official confirmation of it. That’s because the image you’re seeing in the space below has been grabbed from Verizon’s servers, none less.

PC Magazine came across this URL which has finally given us something credible to look at after weeks of discussions on the upcoming handset. As can be seen in the picture, the Windows Phone 8.1 version of the HTC One M8 has been built based on the same design approach as its Android variant, with the only main difference on the front surface being a slightly lower placed speaker below its display.

We can expect the specifications of the handset to remain mostly similar to those of the current model. This means the Duo Camera setup which allows you to focus your images after they’ve been clicked will form part of its offerings, apart from the HTC BoomSound technology for advanced audio output.

The Android version of the HTC One M8 runs on a 2.3GHz quad core Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor which is backed by 2GB worth of RAM. It grabs a 5-inch display offering 1080p full HD resolution, apart from a 5MP front camera. 16GB and 32GB storage models are available, but both these variants feature microSD card slots for further expansion of space.

Coming back to the Windows Phone 8.1 version of the HTC One M8, it is expected to be launched on August 19 at a press event in New York. We’ll have all the latest about this smartphone, so stay tuned.
