As expected, the HTC Butterfly S has been officially unveiled to the public along with the Desire 600 smartphone. So that’s 2 down and 4 more HTC devices to go which include a smaller as well as larger version of its One flagship and dual Windows RT 8.1 tablets with Snapdragon 800 onboard, dubbed the R7 and R12.
The latest high-end device from the Taiwanese manufacturer packs in almost every feature found on the One handset (read our review). For starters, the newest Android Jelly Bean platform is presented out of the box coated with the Sense 5 UI and BlinkFeed. Design-wise, the HTC Butterfly S is much like its predecessor, but it sports various enhancements.
The front is fitted with a 2.1MP wide angle HDR lens and dual Boom Sound stereo speakers that have built-in amplifiers. Resting in-between is the touchscreen. We did have hopes for a larger display on the HTC Butterfly S. However, 5 inches of the same Super LCD3 panel we’ve seen before in the original phone and the One is good enough for us. The company has even thrown in its latest UltraPixel camera along with the ImageChip 2.
Tucked away on the inside is a Snapdragon 600 processor with a clock speed of 1.9GHz, 2GB of RAM, 16GB storage, a microSD card slot and a large 3200mAh battery. The company asserts that the HTC Butterfly S is capable of delivering a whopping 25 hours of 3G talktime or 659 hours of standby. Other highlights comprise of Sense Voice and Beats Audio.
According to Taiwanese retailer Sogi, the Butterfly S will be available in July for a NT$22,900 price tag which amounts to approximately $766 in USD. There’s no confirmation whether the company plans on making the smartphone available globally or in any carrier specific variants – Anyone fancy a Droid DNA2?
