The GoPhone lineup of devices from a certain US-based carrier recently got updated with the AT&T Samsung Galaxy Appeal smartphone. Being the network provider’s first prepaid side-slider handset, it will be available at a cost-effective price of around $149 along with choices of affordable data packs.

In addition to a full-sized keyboard texting and rich Android Gingerbread experiences, the handset in question is bundled with an 800MHz Qualcomm MSM7225A SOC that’s based on the ARM Cortex A5 processor. The front dons a 3.2-inch HVGA TFT display with resolutions of 480 x 320 pixels, while the rear sports a 3MP camera for snapping up pictures and recording videos. Other features including 512MB of RAM, 1.8GB of ROM, UMTS network support and much more, are fitted within dimensions of 4.41 x 2.27 x 0.56 inches. The 1300mAh Li-ion battery is capable of delivering talktime of up to 7 hours or around 300 hours of standby, on a single charge.

Complementing the budget-friendly tag affixed onto this handset are the affordable data plans from AT&T. Starting at $5 a month, users will have access to 50MB of data, while the $15 and $25 packs deliver 200MB and 1GB of usage, respectively. These aforementioned plans are applicable to nationwide GoPhone subscriptions such as the $50 unlimited talk and text as well as the $25 unlimited text with 250 minutes of talktime. What’s more, users are entitled to limitless Wi-Fi data through a wide catalog of hotspots from AT&T.

The AT&T Samsung Galaxy Appeal release date is pinned down for July 15, 2012, through Walmart. The side-slider QWERTY smartphone will be available for a price of approximately $149, as previous noted.
