The business-ready Motorola Photon Q 4G LTE Sprint smartphone which was officially unveiled towards the end of July, has now gone up for pre-order through the carrier. Additionally, the device is expected to launch on August 19 tagging along its 5-row QWERTY goodness for a PC-like typing experience.
A quick run through the specifications – the handset packs in a 4.3-inch ColorBoost touchscreen with a scratch-resistant coating and a 1.5GHz dual core processor for doing the heavy lifting. The Android ICS platform runs the show here and the phone features the Smartactions app. Users will have access to the carrier’s 4G LTE network and can record videos in 1080p as well as capture stills through the rear-facing 8MP camera.
“At Sprint, we recognize there is a large group of our customers that love the ease of a physical QWERTY keyboard,” commented David Owens, vice president – Product Development, Sprint. “By bringing a device like Motorola Photon Q into our portfolio, we are able to give these customers the option of a physical keyboard plus international roaming capabilities to stay connected while traveling abroad.”
The QWERTY keyboard employed here is designed with laser-cut keys and LED lights for better visibility while working in dimly lit conditions. It also sports a dedicated number row for numerical input. And since it’s a business-ready smartphone, users will have access to various corporate security features such as remote wipe, pin lock and data encryption.
The Motorola Photon Q 4G LTE Sprint release date is pinned down for August 19, while its price amounts to $199.99. Pre-ordered devices are expected to ship 2 days before the smartphone goes on sale.
