The Nokia C3-01 Gold Edition Touch and Type phone which is the gold plated version of the previously released C3-01 has started shipping, reveals the Nokia Conversations blog. Aimed at Eastern European and Middle Eastern markets, the 18-carat gold plating and the ceramic-feel keypad of the phone gives it a stylish and luxurious look.
Known for the simplicity, the Nokia C3-01 phone was launched last year for the basic purpose of making calls and specifically for those who are less into specifications. However, it claims to pack in latest technology in the form of quadband radio and HSDPA data speeds. The new variant will employ a 1GHz processor along with BL-5CT 1050mAh Li-ion battery offering a talktime of up to 5.5 hours and a standby time of up to 18 days.
Outfitted with a 2.4-inch QVGA resistive multitouch screen of resolution 240 x 320, the Nokia C3-01 boasts of a 5 megapixel camera with a built-in flash. Its internal memory of 30MB can be expanded up to 32GB with the aid of a microSD card. Weighing a meager 100 grams this compact phone measures 111mm x 47.5mm x 11mm.
Further, it integrates Nokia messaging for email and IM functionality while the Nokia communities allow access to social networking websites like Facebook and Twitter. Needless to say, the phone permits downloading applications from the Nokia Ovi store. Moreover, the Nokia Series 40 browser facilitates instant web browsing.
The Nokia C3-01 Gold Edition Touch and Type phone carries a price tag of €220 excluding taxes. It has started shipping in select markets and will be available in other areas in a few weeks.
