Sony Ericsson unveils the new Jalou mobile phone

There is a new fashion statement that is making waves across the globe. Sony Ericsson has introduced a brand new mobile phone which is set to bedazzle with the essence of style. The epitome of beauty not only outside but on the inside as well goes by the name of Jalou. The handset is set to compliment any trendy handbag and even fits snuggly into a clutch or a pocket. The latest offering is filled with great features that would make this device not just an accessory but a companion as well.

Jalou by Sony Ericsson neatly combines fashion and technology which make an excellent chic combination. The mobile is set to emulate all the latest fashion trends that would make a big impact in the world next year. Not only beautiful from outside but also from within. It sports a two inch screen which also doubles as a mirror with a simple touch of a button.

“Structured forms, intricate corners, hidden depths and jewel accents are set to be some of the hottest fashion trends in 2010. You can also expect to see deep and natural jewel colours on the runway next year. Jalou reflects these trends with its delicate facet-cut diamond shape design, clean and expressive lines and variety of different shine and matt finishes, that give depth to the handset. The design team wanted the handset to reflect beauty found in nature. They looked at structure, strength and form in various crystalline jewels, which resulted in the unique shape,” said Charles Hunt, Jalou head designer at Sony Ericsson.

This is the first mobile of the company that incorporates the Walk Mate step counter which helps users to keep in perfect shape. With the exclusive fashion interface present in the mobile, users can get automatic updates of special events and zodiac signs. This will feature throughout the year. The colors sported by the phone have been inspired by the different hues of gems. The mobile can be found in three vibrant colors such as Aquamarine blue, Onyx black and Deep Amethyst.

“The new Jalou phone is all about looking great and sharing the good life. We wanted to create a beautiful handset without compromising on style or content. It’s perfect for anyone who is sociable, loves fashion and wants to stay one step ahead of trends, because it has a fashion forward design you will want to show off. And, for such a compact handset, it has an immense amount of detail both inside and out,” shared Linda Schori, Marketing Business Manager at Sony Ericsson.

Jalou also includes many other exciting features. It has an integrated 3.2 megapixel camera with up to 3.2x digital zoom and comes complete with geo tagging, photo feeds, photo fix, send to web, video light and video recording. For music enthusiasts, the handheld device has a music player which features Bluetooth stereo, Mega Bass, FM radio with RDS, Media player, music tones, TrackID and PlayNow. The World Wide Web is our oyster as the phone supports Access NetFront web browser, Google search, Web feeds and Bookmarks.

The phone sports many communication options like call list, speakerphone, video calling through main camera, vibrating alert and conference calls. For all those customers who let their fingers do the talking, the cell offers them many messaging options. These include conversations, Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync, predictive text input, sound recorder, Email, IM, MMS and SMS. With the Jalou as the consumers’ companion, they will never be bored even for a single minute as it provides loads of entertainment features. These include video viewing and streaming, 3D games, Java, motion gaming and a YouTube application. The integrated organizer of the mobile comprises of calculator, flight mode phone book, tasks, alarm clock, calendar, notes, stopwatch and timer.

Various connectivity options include USB support and mass storage, Bluetooth technology, modem, Google Maps and synchronization. A-GPS is only available in the United States. Besides the Jalou phone, the box is packed with battery, charger, portable handsfree, stereo and user documentation. The handset from Sony Ericsson is 73 x 45 x 18.2 mm in size and weighs just 84 grams. The main viewing screen is 262,144 colour TFT and has a resolution of 240 x 320 pixels (QVGA). The monochrome LCD external screen has a resolution of 128 x 36 pixels and is 1.3 inches.

Loads of pictures, music and data can be stored in the new device as it sports up to 100MB phone memory. The memory card supports SanDisk microSD card. The device supports UMTS HSDPA 2100 and GSM/GPRS/EDGE 850/900/1800/1900. Customers are offered talk time on GSM of up to 7 hours while standby time is up to 350 hours. Talk time on UMTS is up to 4 hours 30 minutes while stand by time is up to 250 hours. Users are also offered video call time of up to 2 hours.

The latest addition to Sony Ericsson’s acclaimed line-up of mobile phones is expected to hit shelves by Q4 2009. However the price of the device is still under wraps.
