RIM’s official app store for BlackBerry smartphones, the BlackBerry App World now enters the Indian market. This on-device application store is all set to entice BlackBerry users in India.
This new RIM offering in India brings in a broad range of personal and business applications to users for free. It also includes applications that have been specifically crafted for the Indian market.
“The BlackBerry platform provides a truly unparalleled mobile experience for millions of people and we are thrilled to enhance that experience with BlackBerry App World,” said Frenny Bawa, Vice President, India, Research In Motion. “Consumers in India can now easily discover and download a wide variety of applications, including a range of ‘made for India’ apps, directly from their BlackBerry smartphone.”
Well, the BlackBerry App World has been designed to automatically present a relevant catalog of applications for a specific BlackBerry smartphone model. It can be effortlessly accessed over Wi-Fi as well as cellular network.
Adding to users’ convenience are its Front Page Carousel for easier browsing, Top downloads flaunting the most downloaded apps, keyword search with filtering capabilities, apps reviewed and rated by users, and also recommend applications.
Alongside, the BlackBerry App Store lets users archive applications to a microSD card or built-in storage memory. Some of the apps designed for Indian users include Hungama MyPlay, CNBC TV18 Moneycontrol, Mundu Radio and Arrowmatics. This app store can be accessed by BlackBerry users with a device that comes equipped with trackball, touch-sensitive trackpad or touchscreen, which runs on BlackBerry OS version 4.2 or higher. Also the requirements are an active BlackBerry data service plan alongside access to internet.
Users can now download BlackBerry App World to their BlackBerry smartphone from in.blackberry.com/services/appworld or directly from the handset at mobile.blackberry.com.
