With the Mobiado m|Storage USB stick, the Vancouver-based company is back to doing what it does best and giving everyday gadgets a luxurious touch. The last time we were talking about Mobiado, the leather and zipper covered CPT003 concept phone was the subject of interest.
The peripheral is a simple block of black with the manufacturer’s logo printed in gold. When the company says it’s the ‘top surface of the USB stick’ that’s crafted out of a single piece of sapphire crystal, we’re assuming they’re talking about the removable cap. Functionality and minimalism are clearly playing huge parts in the entire design philosophy here.
It’ll be interesting to see how many people are willing to pay a high price for such a portable storage solution which only comes in 8GB and 64GB hoarding capacities. There’s no mention with regards to whether users will be getting USB 2.0 or USB 3.0 on this piece of hardware. In terms of dimensions, the device is packed into a 2.2mm x 11.3mm x 24.8mm form factor.
The pen drive happens to be part of the Precision Mobile Instruments assortment. This is not the first time the brand has taken time off chipping out pricey handsets and delved into comparatively less ambitious offerings. A number of cases for the previously introduced Classic, Professional and Grand series as well as signature keyrings can also be found in the Mobiado catalog.
There’s no word on the Mobiado m|Storage USB stick price label as yet. It looks to be one of those ‘price on request’ unveilings.
