MIUI 7 begins global rollout today, is your Xiaomi device getting it?

After much testing, Xiaomi has finally started rolling out stable builds of its MIUI 7 OS to select smartphones sold by it. The software can be downloaded now through the company’s official portal, but you’ll need to manually flash it in order to get it working.

For those who don’t know how to do that, we’d advise that they wait until the OTA versions arrive on their devices. That shouldn’t take more than a few days to happen. If you’re unaware, MIUI 7 is based on Google’s Android 5.1 Lollipop build and comes with a number of useful additions.

As for the exact offerings that can get the updated software right now, the names include the Xiaomi Mi 3, Mi 4, Mi Pad, Mi Note, Redmi 1S 3G, Redmi Note 4G and Redmi 2 Prime devices. The Mi 4i is the only missing link here, and its maker has confirmed that MIUI 7 will be rolled out for it in the coming days, without giving any reason for the delay.
