After much testing, Xiaomi has finally started rolling out stable builds of its MIUI 7 OS to select smartphones sold by it. The software can be downloaded now through the company’s official portal, but you’ll need to manually flash it in order to get it working.
For those who don’t know how to do that, we’d advise that they wait until the OTA versions arrive on their devices. That shouldn’t take more than a few days to happen. If you’re unaware, MIUI 7 is based on Google’s Android 5.1 Lollipop build and comes with a number of useful additions.
As for the exact offerings that can get the updated software right now, the names include the Xiaomi Mi 3, Mi 4, Mi Pad, Mi Note, Redmi 1S 3G, Redmi Note 4G and Redmi 2 Prime devices. The Mi 4i is the only missing link here, and its maker has confirmed that MIUI 7 will be rolled out for it in the coming days, without giving any reason for the delay.
This fresh version of Xiaomi’s famed operating system not only adds new and interesting features, but also brings about improved performance. It apparently enhances the system response speed of devices by 30 percent, while also bringing about 10 percent longevity in battery life.
MIUI 7 has even been laced with 5 new official themes, adjustable font sizes, custom albums in the Gallery app and a Child Mode. There are several India-only traits as well, which include auto-changing lockscreen photos, videos on call screens, smart OTP handling and smart group SMS’.
If you’re willing to flash MIUI 7 manually on your device, head over to this link in order to grab your download.
