Microsoft’s upcoming Lumia 940 smartphone will bear Snapdragon 808 SOC

There have been many rumors that Microsoft is working on new flagship smartphones, the Lumia 940 and Lumia 940 XL. Well, it looks like we’ve got concrete evidence on the former device as it was recently spotted on a benchmark website carrying some pretty beefy hardware.

The phone was listed as the RM-1106 and the information revealed is a lot similar to what was leaked about the Microsoft Lumia 940. The phone is expected to arrive as the successor to the Lumia 930, but the branding isn’t confirmed.

By the looks of things, the handset might not be a major upgrade over its predecessor and that’s mainly since we’re only seen a new processor, while the rest of the components are more of less the same. Well, Microsoft is sure to thrown in some exciting features, but there’s no concrete information as yet.

Windows 10 For Phones

The GFXBench website has revealed that the Lumia 940 (Nokia RM-1106) will have a 5.2-inch 1080p display with 2GB RAM and 32GB of internal storage. There will also be a 5MP front camera and a 20MP rear shooter. And for processing power, the smartphone will use the hexa core Snapdragon 808 chip.

The previous leak on the handset revealed similar details, but disclosed that the screen would be a 2K OLED panel and the RAM would be at 3GB. There was also mention of a 3000mAh battery. As for the Lumia 940 XL, leaked info points to a 5.7-inch QHD display, a Snapdragon 810 processor, 3GB RAM, 32GB storage, microSD expansion, a 5MP front camera and a 20MP rear snapper.

We expect to see the Microsoft Lumia 940 and Lumia 940 XL go official sometime in September or October running Windows 10 for mobile.
