The Microsoft Surface Pro with Windows 8 finally gets an official release date and price for US and Canada. The device will sell in all the company’s retails stores and various other outlets in the two countries. Included with the tablet is a specifically designed pen to extend the functionality that users will have at their behest.
It features a 10.6-inch ClearType full HD display with an aspect ratio of 16:9. The screen offers images and video at a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels. And the device can run all current Windows 7 desktop applications as well as those created to suit Windows 8. Furthermore, the technology giant says that the slab integrates with users’ standing enterprise management infrastructure.
It is offered in internal memory options of 64GB and 128GB and comes in a dark titanium exterior color. Additionally, there is a front-facing and a rear-facing camera, and both are capable of capturing in 720p HD resolution. Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 4.0 connectivity options are available as well, making the tablet convenient to interface with other devices.
The heart of the slab is derived from the 3rd generation Intel Core i5 processor. Meanwhile, running applications and games is helped out by the 4GB of RAM as well as the Intel HD Graphics 4000 solution that comes along with the CPU. Internal memory can be expanded further if needed, since a microSDXC card slot is provided.
The Microsoft Surface Pro with Windows 8 will go on sale on February 9, 2013 in the US and Canada for $899 (US). The Redmond-based company will also introduce the Surface Windows RT in 14 more regions soon, and it will be made available in a new 64GB standalone version for $599. There will also be three new touch cover colors – red, magenta and cyan – and a Wedge Touch Mouse in the coming weeks.
