Microsoft Delays SQL Server 2008’s Arrival

Logo of Microsoft SQL Server 2008 Microsoft has postponed the release of its SQL Server 2008 till Q3 of this year. Earlier the server was supposed to roll out in the second quarter of 2008.

In a blog dedicated to SQL Server, the software giant has mentioned that they are on the way to achieve the goal.

“Over the coming months, customers and partners can look forward to significant product milestones for SQL Server. Microsoft is excited to deliver a feature complete CTP during the Heroes Happen Here launch wave and a release candidate (RC) in Q2 calendar year 2008, with final Release to manufacturing (RTM) of SQL Server 2008 expected in Q3,” wrote Microsoft.

It further added that, “Our goal is to deliver the highest quality product possible and we simply want to use the time to meet the high bar that you, our customers, expect.”

Microsoft SQL Server 2008’s predecessor SQL Server 2005 was delayed in the same fashion for nearly two years. Inspite of that, market research suggests that it is a successful product. So we can expect a better and another successful product from Microsoft in the form of SQL Server 2008.
