We’ve had a lot of expectations from the Micromax Canvas Spark Q380 smartphone and the many teasers on the smartphone from over the past few weeks are the reason behind that. The handset has been officially revealed with a price tag of Rs 4999 and it falls in the lower mid-range segment.
The Micromax Canvas Spark Q380 is being considered as a Redmi-killer handset, but it doesn’t quite have what it takes to challenge Xiaomi’s new super affordable smartphone. Sure, at the aforementioned amount, the device in question is one of the cheapest options on the market to offer Lollipop out of the box.
But it’s powered by a 1.3GHz quad core MT6582M processor from MediaTek which is based on the good-old Cortex A7, while most net releases offer 64-bit chipsets. Also, the Micromax handset packs a 4.7-inch display with qHD visuals and not 720p HD resolution. This is the biggest disappointment mainly since the company did tease the phone with a high quality display.

On the upside, there’s Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection. The Canvas Spark Q380 is also quite the attractive looking device as it features well-designed front and rear panels, as well as a metallic rim. Accompanying the screen is a 2MP snapper, while the flip side offers an 8MP shooter. The handset also has a 2000mAh battery which can deliver up to 7 hours of talk time or around 335 hours of standby.
