Micromax plans to launch two WP8.1 phones next week

Just yesterday we reported about the Micromax Gold A300 and the possibility of the company’s first WP8.1 handset going official on Monday. Well, a new report has surfacing claiming to have confirmation that the Indian OEM will not unveil one, but two smartphones running on Microsoft’s mobile OS on the 16th.

So far, there’s no information on either of the Micromax Windows 8.1 smartphones and we don’t even know what the company plans to call them. Times of India is reporting that the one handset will retail for around Rs 6,000 to Rs 7,000, while the other will be tagged between Rs 10,000 and Rs 11,000. The former phone could come with a dual core Snapdragon processor with the latter having a quad core Qualcomm chipset.

It’s pretty obvious that these handsets will fall in the entry-level category and we expect them to offer 512MB or 1GB of RAM. That’s all we can speculate about for now. In a previous report, a leakster noted that the company will also launch a flagship phone at the event on Monday. The handset will be called the Canvas Gold A300 and feature a pretty attractive design with the front having a full glass construct, while the rest of the body being made from metal.

Here are the Gold A300’s leaked specs:

– OS: Android 4.4 KitKat
– Display: 5.5-inch 1080p
– Camera: 16MP rear, 8MP front
– SOC: 2GHz octa core chip
– Memory: 2GB RAM, 32GB storage
