Following the usual tradition, the Canvas Duet AE90 from Micromax has gone on sale in India sans any announcement from the company. Well, in a few days, we should hear official word on the phone’s arrival. The device is another addition to the entry-level market and it’s priced below Rs 10000.
It’s pretty weird that Micromax has chosen to launch the Canvas Duet AE90 now when it should have done so a long time back, considering that the Duet 2 EG111 has been on sale since February. Or it’s probably that the OEM doesn’t wish to follow a consecutive naming strategy. The newly available phone is much smaller than the latter device which stands tall at 5.3 inches.
It offers a 4.5-inch qHD display with 540 x 960p resolution. If this wasn’t disappointing enough, the phone comes with Android 4.1 Jelly Bean out of the box. Xolo’s recently launched Q1011 KitKat handset looks to be a much better option at Rs 9999. The Duet AE90 is currently retailing for as low as Rs 8999 on Infibeam, while a seller on eBay has listed it for Rs 9299.

Nevertheless, you do get a 1.2GHz quad core processor and an entire gigabyte of RAM. Apart from this, the phone offers a 5MP rear camera with LED flash, a VGA webcam on the front, 4GB of storage, a microSD card slot, dual SIM support (GSM + CDMA) and a 1800mAh battery that can deliver just 5.5 hours of talktime, 4 hours of browsing or 150 hours of standby.
You can purchase the Micromax Canvas Duet AE90 through Infibeam via this link or shell out a little more cash and get it through eBay India.
