Original Story: As its name suggests, the Micromax Canvas A1 is an Android One smartphone and one among the three which were launched today. It will be going on sale exclusively via Amazon India at 3:30pm with its price set at Rs 6499. This phone is also set to receive an India-wide retail release during Diwali.
Android One is a Google program, under which the company offers the hardware guidelines required by manufacturers for coming up with the best devices to provide the Android software experience. Moreover, these handsets will also be the beneficiaries of fast software updates.
Aside from the Micromax Canvas A1, Spice and Karbonn have also showcased their respective Android One smartphones in the form of the Dream Uno Mi-498 and the Sparkle V which bear similar components onboard. These will be sold by Flipkart and Snapdeal at Rs 6999 and Rs 6399, respectively.
Coming to the Canvas A1’s offerings, it comes with a 4.5-inch FWVGA display and runs on a quad core MediaTek processor. FM radio and dual SIM support are also onboard, apart from 1GB of RAM, a 5MP rear camera and a 2MP front one.
