After months and months of speculation regarding the possibility of a new Metal Gear Solid game for the Sony PlayStation 2, Konami has finally confirmed that to be true. The upcoming release based on one of the most popular franchises in the gaming world will be called Metal Gear Solid: the Essential Collection and is currently being developed.
Metal Gear Solid: the Essential Collection included the original all-time favorite Metal Gear Solid that was released on the PlayStation in 1998. Also included will be the director’s cut of Metal Gear Solid 2 and Metal Gear Solid 3.
To top it all, the contents will be packaged in a special box complete with artwork by the famous Metal Gear Solid artist Yoji Shinkawa.
According to Anthony Crouts, Vice President of Marketing for Konami Digital Entertainment, “Since its inception, the Metal Gear Solid franchise has been one of the most successful game series in the history of video games, receiving worldwide recognition and praise.”
“Metal Gear Solid: The Essential Collection represents a great value for gamers, bringing together three must-have classic titles which pioneered the stealth action genre,” he added.
Metal Gear Solid: the Essential Collection will carry a price of $29.99 and will soon be available for the PlayStation 2 console.
