Meizu’s flagship Pro 7, Pro 7 Plus sport a second screen on the back

Meizu Pro 7

Meizu’s latest Pro 7 and Pro 7 Plus flagship phones are turning heads in the smartphone world with a unique second screen. Unlike LG and HTC, the company has chosen to place the AMOLED display on the back of the handset.

This raises a lot of questions about durability since screens have a tendency to crack if dropped. In any case, Meizu’s touch-enabled 1.9-inch (240 × 536p) panel can be used to view and manage notifications, access music controls, and serve as a viewfinder for selfies taken with the dual cameras.

The module is the other big highlight of the Pro 7 and Pro 7 Plus. It consists of two Sony IMX386 12MP lenses, with one focusing on color and the other monochrome. Both combined are supposed to give way to higher-quality night shots, helped along by an aperture of f/2.0, PDAF, and dual-LED flash.

For people who like to take selfies the traditional way, Meizu has provided for a 16MP front-facing shooter. It uses a 4-in-1 algorithm to make sure low-light snaps come out looking great. The two flagship handsets look pretty much the same outside, but differ greatly in other aspects.

The Pro 7 wields a Helio P25/X30 processor, 64GB/128GB of ROM, 4GB of RAM, a 3000mAh battery, and a 5.2-inch 1080p Super AMOLED screen. On the other hand, the Pro 7 Plus possesses only a Helio X30 chipset, 64GB/128GB of ROM, 6GB of RAM, a 3500mAh battery, and a 5.7-inch QHD Super AMOLED display.
