Matsushita to Cover the Direct Costs Related to the Nokia BL-5C Batteries Advisory

Nokia BL-5C Battery

The world’s aware of the Nokia-branded BL-5C battery overheating issue. Well now here’s the latest development in the story. Matsushita Battery Industrial Co., Ltd. of Japan will stand the direct costs related to the August 14, 2007 product advisory on Nokia-branded BL-5C batteries. Both, Nokia as well as Matsushita are in joint agreement to this decision.

Masatsugu Kondo, President of Matsushita Battery stated, “Nokia and Matsushita have a long business relationship and the two companies are cooperating closely together in this situation.” Kondo continued, “Matsushita Battery has agreed to cover the direct costs associated with the product advisory, including, among other things, logistics costs, call center costs, and replacement battery costs.”

“The safety of our customers and the reliability and quality of our products are our top priorities,” stated Robert Andersson, head of Nokia Customer and Market Operations. “We are pleased with the good cooperation between Nokia and Matsushita. Together we aim to serve consumers in the best possible manner and minimize the inconvenience this issue could cause them.”

As mentioned in the previous articles too, all Nokia users using a device with a BL-5C battery subject to the product advisory can request a replacement battery free of charge. www.nokia.com/batteryreplacement is the site you need to log on to know whether your battery is subject to the advisory or not. For users in India, Nokia has also set up various other ways to know the same.
