‘Malgudi Days’ Mobile Content announced by Reliance Communications

There may be hardly any Indian who may have not read the stories or perhaps seen the TV adaptation of the various stories revolving around this town. Just the humming of ‘Ta na na na tana na na na’ is nostalgic enough to transport anyone back to the days of Malgudi Days. Now you can get your good old ‘Malgudi Days’ days back thanks to the launch of the Malgudi Days mobile content on Reliance Mobile World.

Reliance believes that mobile TV has huge potential in India as customers have an appetite for entertainment content.

Applications Content and Solutions Group, Reliance Communications said, “The launch of Malgudi Days, on Reliance Mobile World is a step forward in our endeavor to tap the huge demand of entertainment content on the Mobile Platform,” Prasad added, “Looking at the superior capabilities of Reliance network, and the huge appetite for entertainment content of our many million customers, we look forward to enhancing the suite of over 2500 applications currently available on Reliance Mobile World”, he continued.

The launch of Malgudi Days on Reliance Mobile World coincides with the birth centenary of R.K. Narayan, whose collection of short stories titled ‘Malgudi Days’ is popular world over.

Under the ‘Malgudi Days’ option, caller ring back tones, ringtones, wallpapers, video clips can be accessed in the ‘Hot N New’ section on Reliance Mobile World. Each Malgudi Days video clip and ring tone download would be charged Rs 7 whereas Rs 5 would be charged per wallpaper download. Reliance Mobile Customers can also access it on 1234 Voice Portal by simply saying ‘Malgudi Days’ after dialing 1234. A nominal charge of Rs Rs 6 per minute for accessing the voice portal would be applicable.

The `Malgudi Days’ content has been made available by Verity Technologies of Bengaluru.
