The new iPad Pro is almost upon us, making this the perfect time for a few leaks to pop up and offer hints at what’s to come. Accessory maker UAG has decided to preview the tablet inside one of its cases.

Case makers typically get device specs and info ahead of time so they can prepare their goods, so there’s a chance UAG has some insider information. On the other hand, it’s possible the above 2018 iPad Pro render (shared via MySmartPrice) is just an educated guess on the company’s part.

The image pretty much lines up with what we’ve heard about the 2018 iPad Pro so far. It’s apparently the bigger 12.9-inch model and not the smaller 10.5-inch one. Some say the latter might actually measure 11-inch thanks to a combination of reduced bezels, curved corners, and no home button.

Thankfully, Apple hasn’t introduced the iPhone’s notch design to the iPad series. What it has borrowed is the virtual Home bar which helps users navigate their device using gestures. The photo also features the revamped Apple Pencil sitting neatly beside the tablet.

Reports claim that the Apple Pencil will automatically pair with the iPad Pro without any elaborate setup, just like the AirPods. Another new addition is the TrueDepth Camera at the top of the device for Face ID and Animoji.

There was a bit of confusion over whether the facial recognition system would work in portrait and landscape mode, but a recent report says Apple has made it possible in both. This is very interesting since it works only in portrait in the iPhone. Maybe the next generation of iPhones will get hold of this ability too.

Apple is yet to announce a launch event for its new iPads and MacBooks. At this rate, we’ll probably see an event happening on October 30.
