Apple’s iPhone 9 is stirring up a lot of interest in the rumorsphere, with many believing it to be an affordable entry-level model in this year’s iPhone lineup. A couple of case renders for the 6.1-inch LCD iPhone recently popped up online courtesy GizmoChina and a case maker named Sanfeng.

The images pretty much line up with what we’ve heard about the iPhone 9 so far. It seems to be a bit thicker than expected, but this could just be an errant assumption and not an accurate depiction. Speculation so far suggests it might measure 150.9 x 76.5 x 8.3mm only.

In comparison, the iPhone X has a thickness of 7.7mm, making it a bit slimmer. Other than its depth, the iPhone 9 looks just like its predecessor. It has the same notch up front and an identical button placement. The one big change is the presence of a single camera.

It was probably implemented as a cost-cutting measure, although the lens does appear to be much larger than the one found on the iPhone 8. Perhaps some camera upgrades are on the way. The bezels are interesting, as it seems Apple has found a way to keep them at a minimum even though LCD panels don’t bend as well as OLED ones.

A recent report explained how Apple managed to do this, while another claimed that LG will be in charge of producing 20 million LCD screens for the device. Japan Display may also be in the running as another supplier.

The iPhone 9 might be priced in the ballpark of $600 to $700, as per prominent Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo. It’s supposedly letting go of 3D Touch to make this possible, as well as replacing stainless steel with aluminum in its frame.
