Apple usually slashes the prices of its older iPhones every year after the new crop arrives and 2018 is no different. While the iPhone 6S, iPhone 6S Plus, iPhone SE, and iPhone X have gotten discontinued in the US, all of them except the iPhone SE are still being sold in India at reduced rates.
With the 4-inch iPhone SE gone and no replacement in sight, the 32GB iPhone 6S is the cheapest 4.7-inch iPhone available in India at Rs 29900. It’s a significant Rs 13000 difference from the handset’s previous Rs 42900 cost. For those seeking a bigger 5.5-inch screen, the 32GB iPhone 6S Plus is out on the streets at Rs 34900.
New iPhone 7, iPhone 8, iPhone X Prices
Next up is the 32GB iPhone 7 which is being sold at Rs 39900. Its larger Plus sibling has fallen down to Rs 49900. Moving on to a more recent generation, the 64GB iPhone 8 will now set buyers back by Rs 59900. The 64GB iPhone 8 Plus has similarly dropped down to Rs 69900.
Finally, the 64GB iPhone X is officially vending at Rs 91900, a Rs 3490 difference. Its 256GB variant has gone down by Rs 2030 to Rs 106900. Even after the discount, these new figures are actually higher than the handset’s initial launch cost last year (Rs 89000 for the 64GB iPhone X and Rs 102000 for the 256GB iPhone X).
That’s because Apple decided to hike iPhone rates twice this year after the government raised import taxes and custom duties. This is probably the reason why the new iPhone XR, iPhone XS, and iPhone XS Max are so expensive, in addition to the fact that the rupee is at an all-time low.
E-commerce sites like Amazon and Flipkart may offer better deals, but Apple is actively trying to stop deep discounts in India. In Apple Watch news, Series 3 of the wearable now starts at a lower Rs 28900 for the GPS model and Rs 37900 for the GPS + Cellular one.
