Amazon releases Kindle for Mac application

Last month, we heard about Amazon introducing a new Kindle application for BlackBerry phones. The Kindle reading experience expands further with Amazon making public the new Kindle for Mac application. Yes, a new free application will enable users to read Kindle books on Mac computers.

While reading on their Kindle and iPhone, users can now also read on their Mac ensuring they never lose your place. Mac users will gain access to the wide U.S. Kindle Store that presently offers more than 450,000 books, including New Releases and 102 of 111 New York Times Bestsellers. Users can find popular books in digital format.

“Kindle for Mac is the perfect companion application for customers who own a Kindle or Kindle DX,” remarked Jay Marine, director, Amazon Kindle. “For those customers around the world who don’t yet have a Kindle, Kindle for Mac is a great way to instantly access and read the most popular new releases as well as their old favorites.”

Boasting of Amazon’s advanced Whispersync technology, the application reveals the potential to save and synchronize bookmarks as well as last page read across devices. Whether users have a Kindle, Kindle DX, Mac or just the free application, they can now continue reading from where they left off irrespective of the place and time.

Many other features are offered to readers who use this new application. They can purchase, download, and read hundreds of thousands of books available in the Kindle Store. Accessing their library of previously acquired Kindle books stored on Amazon’s servers for free; they can also select from 10 different font sizes and adjust words per line.

Viewing notes, they can also see highlights marked on Kindle, Kindle DX, and Kindle for iPhone. The application will allow them to read in full color counting children’s books, cookbooks, travel books and textbooks. Besides, users can look forward to the addition of a host of interesting features soon. This includes full text search and creation and editing of notes and highlights.
