The Logitech Solar Keyboard Folio for iPad is here because it’s bad enough to go looking for wall outlets to plug in those mobile devices. Imagine having to run around searching for a spot to juice up those extra peripherals that tag along too.
At any rate, Logitech’s got the point and those toting the second and third generation iPad can hope for extra typing comfort with the new case that features a QWERTY keypad. The add-on works with dye-sensitized solar cells or rechargeable NiMh batteries that draw their energy from the said cells. Apparently, owners can expect roughly two years of use once it is powered up to the maximum capacity.
“Now that people are seemingly inseparable from their tablets, using them for everything from sending emails to watching videos, they want accessories powered to meet their needs,” cited Alexis Richard, director of product marketing, Logitech. “The Logitech Solar Keyboard Folio is a smart partner for your iPad. Its sleek built-in keyboard uses light to charge and it provides hassle-free protection for your iPad – both for the front and back. It gives you an ideal way to use and protect your tablet without adding bulk.”
In the US layout, the number of keys on the accessory adds up to 64, while it’s 65 for the EU spread. The case is designed to prop up the tablet in two angles – in a thoroughly upright view for full use of the keyboard and at a more tilted angle, where only the first row of keys at the base are accessible for media playback and volume tweaking. The Logitech Solar Keyboard Folio connects to the slate via Bluetooth v3.0 and it can also send the iPad into sleep or active mode depending on whether users close or open the folio.
The Logitech Solar Keyboard Folio price is $129.99. It is scheduled to hit the US and Europe this month itself.
