LG seems to have raised the bar as far as super-skinny LCDs are concerned. Its latest LCD models, the company claims are the world’s thinnest at only 0.23-inches in thickness.
Engadget reports that LG has unveiled novel 42” and 47” LCD panels which are much less than an inch in thickness. Supposedly an iPhone was missing to measure the thinness of these LCDs. And as the picture shows, the model supplements it with a coin.
These new edge LED lit LCDs from LG should apparently be released wrap in a combination of two lighting schemes next year. This exciting combo will offer users thinness with high picture quality. The 42” and 47” models allegedly weigh 6.1kg and 7.3kg respectively.
The thickness of the screens is apparently lowered thanks to the use of Light Guide Sheet.
The HDTVs are also expected to offer smooth and crisp images with 120Hz refresh technology. They should feature 80% of the NTSC color gamut.
The price and availability of these models is still under wraps.
