The LG Optimus G Pro will debut a new feature called Smart Video, it has been announced. This user experience trait will afford a little more freedom especially when watching videos. It removes from the equation the need to manually control playback, thus enhancing the viewing experience.
The 5.5-inch Optimus G Pro was made official for South Korea in February this year, and was released to the region a little later. Smart Video is, by the company’s own admission, an advanced eye recognition technology, and it seems Samsung is not alone in its quest to give users control of media automatically depending on where they are looking.
LG’s Smart Video is able to monitor where users are looking, and it accordingly pauses any video that is playing when a user’s gaze shifts elsewhere and resumes the media when focus turns back to the screen. This requires no manual intervention and is aimed at making the multimedia experience a little easier.
This feature will come with the Value Pack upgrade, which will also include a dual camera function. An extension of the dual recording that came with the phone, the dual camera function will capture images simultaneously with both cameras, giving photos a new picture-in-picture style. Thus those doing the clicking can be part of the story behind every picture.
A few other features will also be added with the pack. There will be new options for QRemote which will work specifically with the company’s smart TVs, giving the phone a sort of dual personality as a remote control for the television set. The smart LED lighting will also receive a tiny upgrade, allowing users to customize the color of the home button’s LED. Finally, there will be color emoticons for an added level of text message personalization.
The Value Pack upgrade with Smart Video will be made available for the LG Optimus G Pro to Korean users next month. The company has promised that the features contained in the pack will also come to a few of its premium smartphones in the future.
