Updated LG Optimus G reaching Europe with Jelly Bean, new UI features

An updated version of the LG Optimus G is scheduled to hit availability status in Europe this month proffering enhanced capabilities and an improved user-experience. The new perks are delivered through the Jelly Bean platform and a fresh set of UI features that were recently unveiled with the device’s successor as well as the latest F and L series.

It was just last month that the company announced it would be making the Optimus G with Android 4.1 available in over 50 countries starting with Singapore. Some of the improvements made to the UX include an updated QSlide application which allows users to adjust the size, position and transparency of the UI as per their liking. The tool is also said to play nice with other built-in apps such as the browser, memo, calendar and calculator.


Next up is Safety Care, an emergency service which can be programmed to send out location information to particular people through text messages, while Privacy Keeper let’s owners hide a callers’ information by simply swiping the icon when answering a call. Other goodies comprise of Google Now, Filmstrip View and Expandable Notifications.

While the software employed here is refreshed, the hardware components remain untouched. The company has been offering the smartphone in 2 variants, one bearing a 13MP camera and the other with an 8MP snapper on the rear. Irrespective of the pixel count, both lenses are able to record videos in 1080p and capture low-light images through assistance from the LED flash. The updated LG Optimus G with Jelly Bean will be available in Sweden starting this month with many more locations such as France, Germany and Italy amongst others to follow suit. Where a price is concerned, the conglomerate hasn’t made anything official as yet, although the device could retail for around €599.90 based on an Amazon listing.
