We’ve been seeing quite a handful of educational slates over the months and the latest addition to this category is the Lexibook tablet which is soon to be launched in the US. Designed for kids, the device is specifically crafted to meet the needs of new generation toddlers and pre-teens.
The tablet is designed around dimensions of 12.1cm x 1.3cm x 19.5cm and packs in a 7-inch touch display with a resolution of 800 x 480 pixels. Powering this slab is the Android 2.2 platform backed by a 600MHz processor and 256MB of RAM. Users will have 4GB of built-in hoarding capacity at their disposal along with a microSD expansion bay supporting up to 16GB. With the built-in 4000mAh Li-ion battery, the device is capable of delivering up to 25 hours of music listening, 5.5 hours of video playback or 6 hours of web browsing over Wi-Fi.

Being feature-filled, the slab is bundled with a wide catalog of educational content including tests and interactive quizzes. Kids will have access to various pre-loaded eBooks and School Zone apps in addition to a photo editing software, Lexibook Market and applications such as Pig Rush, Angry Birds, Fruit Ninja, Pandora and Skype. And these aren’t all – it also arrives with the Lexibook Videostore by Kabillion and Spotify, while various accessories are up for grabs including tablet skins, cases, stylus, keyboards and headsets.
The Lexibook tablet will be available for purchase in the US through Toys’ R Us stores.
