China was first to receive the Lenovo Vibe Z last year, and after a successful showing at this year’s CES, the device has made an entry into India with an interesting price tag of Rs 35,999. Equipped with high-end specifications including a quad core Snapdragon 800 chipset, this smartphone is up against quite a few challengers in the Indian market.
First let us give you a lowdown on its main offerings. Here they are in brief:
– Android 4.2 Jelly Bean
– 5.5-inch 1080p IPS touchscreen
– 2.2GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 SOC with Adreno 330 GPU
– 2GB RAM
– Dual SIM support – WCDMA, CDMA and LTE models
– 13MP rear camera, 5MP webcam
With its 5-inch full HD display and the same 2GB of RAM, the Samsung Galaxy S4 priced at Rs. 32,500 poses strong opposition to the Lenovo Vibe Z. However, the Samsung device wins due to its incorporation of a higher number of cores on its SoC. The Exynos Octa chipset inside the device grabs hold four 1.6GHz cores and four 1.2GHz cores.
Moreover, there’s no expandable storage onboard the Lenovo Vibe Z, as opposed to the 64GB worth of added space that you can get with the Galaxy S4. The Lenovo device loses in the camera department as well, with its 8MP camera posing pale competition to the 13MP shooter on Samsung’s beast.
Shoppers can also go for the Xperia Z1 from Sony which costs somewhere around Rs 40,500. Its 20.7MP snapper beats that of Chinese smartphone’s by miles, and its 2GB RAM matches the Lenovo Vibe Z’s module. And barring the expandable memory option for the former, other specs are pretty much similar.
The almost outdated LG Optimus G Pro too will be competing against the new device. It features a 5.5-inch 1080p display, a 13MP shooter, 2GB worth of RAM and 16GB of internal memory which is again expandable. Inside it ticks Snapdragon 600 1.7 quad core chip, which is much less advanced than the one on the Lenovo Vibe Z.
And then there’s the Gionee Elife E7 which grabs a Rs 29,400 price tag. This smartphone too features the Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 setup and a 5.5-inch full HD display. And moreover, it even kicks in a 16MP main camera, an 8MP webcam and 2GB worth of RAM.
So that’s how the Lenovo Vibe Z compares among its contemporaries. It now remains to be seen how it performs in sales.
