The Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon Touch Ultrabook that carries a price tag of about $1,500 has just hit availability status in the US. The device is nothing but the touchscreen version of the previously released X1 Carbon notebook, and has been optimized to support gesture controls of the newest Windows OS.
According to the company, it is the world’s lightest 14-inch touchscreen notebook, but it happens to be heavier than the basic version. The device measures merely 20.8mm at its thickest point and easily supports a 14-inch 10-finger multi-touch HD+ LED-backlit display that allows users to see content in 1600 x 900p resolution. It is accompanied by a 720p HD face-tracking webcam too.
As opposed to a traditional material used in most other notebooks, this Lenovo device’s encasing is carved with the help of carbon fiber for durability. It operates with the assistance of Microsoft’s Windows 8 platform and brings a multi-gesture glass touchpad along in order to enable prospective customers to use various gestures that are supported by this operating system. A backlit-keyboard facilitates typing on the go.
The ThinkPad X1 Carbon Touch Ultrabook hides the latest generation Intel Core i5 or i7 processors under the hood and can be customized with up to 8GB of DDR3L SDRAM. The Intel HD 4000 GPU is responsible for ensuring improved visual performance. Additionally, it is capable of delivering enhanced audio with the help of Dolby Home Theater v4.
Furthermore, the notebook boasts of Microsoft Lync and facilitates video calling using its webcam and dual array microphones. Its ability to track video and voice eliminates the need to connect external peripherals for this purpose. This computer system can be purchased along with an optional 65W AC adapter to keep it charged for a long time.
Considering that it is meant for business professionals, the device is also installed with features like Integrated Fingerprint Reader, TPM, BIOS encryption, vPro and more. There’s Lenovo RapidCharge technology for keeping the Ultrabook charged to provide computing time of up to 8 hours at a stretch.
