A price for the Lenovo ThinkPad Twist in India has been revealed and the device is available in the country starting at Rs. 71,000. As the name suggests, the laptop can be converted into a tablet simply by twisting the screen, giving it a dual mode of operation, for work and personal use perhaps. A hinge allows the hybrid device to function in a total of four modes, the company says.
In terms of size, the device boasts of a thickness of just 20 millimeters, weighing in at 1.6 kilograms. Despite these restrictions, it still finds the space for a full-size keyboard with a TrackPoint and Touchpad, making navigation easier for those accustomed to the traditional scheme. Since it is a hybrid, a multi-touch screen adds to the convenience of using the device.
Speaking of which, the laptop has a 12.5-inch IPS display which can be used to watch videos in a variety of modes. Stand mode allows one kind of viewing, while tent mode can be used for presentations, among other things. Gorilla glass protects the screen, whose wide viewing angles receive the backing of Dolby Home Theater V4 for enhanced home entertainment.
The fears of those concerned about inadequate on-board storage can be allayed with the in-built 500GB HDD, and there is even a performance boost for increased responsiveness. The company claims it can wake in just 2 seconds when in sleep mode and will give users the advantage of about 30 days of standby time.
In addition, the device comes with a few VoIP features such as a new microphone mode for conference calls, as well as technology which suppresses keystroke noise. Better communication options include mute buttons for the speakers and camera. And the hybrid laptop is backed by the company’s solution for small business as a value-added package, which helps in IT maintenance and includes software monitoring and added security features.
The Lenovo ThinkPad Twist is available in a mocha black color option, and the company says the Rs. 71,000 tag it comes with is ‘all inclusive.’ Other details such as RAM specifications and connectivity options haven’t been expressly mentioned, although it is understood to run Windows 8.
