The ‘fast, slim and light’ Lenovo IdeaTab S2109 is all set to hit stores proffering the Android Ice Cream Sandwich platform and approximately 10 hours of battery life. Aimed towards potential users on a budget, the 9.7-inch tablet is expected to retail in the US for a starting price of $329.
Powering the tablet is a dual core OMAP 4430 SOC from TI that’s based on the ARM Cortex A9 processor, while 1GB of LPDDR2 RAM operating at 600MHz, provides for multitasking capabilities. Along with the front-facing 1.3MP camera for live video chat, Lenovo has thrown in a 9.7-inch HD IPS display portraying resolutions of 1024 x 768 pixels.
“The IdeaTab S2109 tablet is an entertainment maven’s dream device, boasting powerful processing and graphics for multimedia use,” states Yao Li, director of Innovation Product Operations, Lenovo. “The tablet’s Ice Cream Sandwich OS and amped-up features give consumers something that will keep them conveniently entertained anywhere, anytime in an incredibly slim package – whether they’re consuming or sharing their favorite websites, books, videos or music. It’s as nimble and convenient as toting a magazine, but it offers much more than the contents of one.”
Other features include Bluetooth 3.0, a Broadcom 11b/g/n Wi-Fi module, a microSD card slot supporting 32GB of storage and a micro-HDMI output port for connectivity with external displays. Said to be high on activity life, the IdeaTab S2109 is capable of delivering around 10 hours of usage on web browsing and video playback or 700 hours of standby, through the 3-cell Li-polymer battery.
The Lenovo IdeaTab S2109 price starts at $329 for the 8GB version, while the 16GB and 32GB variants are marked at $349 and $399, respectively. The tablet will be available during early June through select Office Depot retail outlets and from the company’s website.
