The price for the Lenovo IdeaPad Yoga 11S and a broad release date have been revealed at the 2013 CES. Like so many laptops we are seeing, the device is capable of touch input and to its credit uses the company’s 360-degree hinge found on all such Yoga convertibles. We just saw the business-oriented ThinkPad Helix make its own set of waves with a ‘rip and slip’ design.
The IdeaPad Yoga 11S, just like the Helix, features an 11.6-inch HD display infused with IPS technology. But unlike its cousin of sorts, it can take 10-point multi-touch input, while no mention has been made of pen functionality. Also, its screen resolution doesn’t go all the way up to 1080p and is capped at 1366 x 768p.
Coming back to that 360-degree hinge mechanism, it allows for use in traditional laptop mode, and easy switching for use in tablet mode. But this also means that the device can be hinged into an intermediate presentation mode or as Lenovo puts it, ‘stand or tent modes’ for convenient movie-watching, for which it comes with Dolby Home Theatre audio.
The laptop-tablet hybrid can be specified with an OS up to Windows 8 Pro and with a CPU going all the way up to the 3rd generation Intel Core i7 processor. Those interested in purchasing the device will be pleased to know that memory can be added as far as 8GB in terms of RAM while as much as 256GB of SSD storage can be plugged in.
Battery specifics are not known, but the company claims the device can pull out up to 6 hours of juice from it. The laptop convertible in its entirety is said to weigh about 3.1 pounds making it a fairly manageable solution for the needs of prospective users.
The Lenovo IdeaPad Yoga 11S convertible will be sold at retail outlets and via the company’s official online shop. It is expected to go on sale starting in June this year and sell for the better part of $799. Additionally, the so-called ‘mini Ultrabook’ will be made available in Clementine orange and silver grey and will feature the same rubber painting and soft-touch exterior as the Yoga 13.
