At less than an inch thick, 21.9mm to be precise, the Lenovo IdeaPad S300, S400 and S405 notebooks are to arrive for the masses dressed in a lightweight form factor with latest technologies from AMD and Intel. These S series laptops are even designed to impress with a tactile metallic finish covering the exterior in color choices of crimson red, silver grey and cotton-candy pink.

The Lenovo IdeaPad S300 and S400 systems are powered by third generation Core i3 and i5 processors with 500GB of hard disk storage. The S405, on the other hand, runs on an AMD A8 quad core APU and is bundled with up to 1TB of HDD memory. The latter 2 can be equipped with an optional 32GB SSD for better read and write speeds. On the entertainment front, users will have a 14-inch HD widescreen display, HDMI output, stereo speakers and Dolby Advanced Audio v2 along with approximately 5 hours of battery life.

“As a global leader in the PC market, Lenovo’s success rests on our ability to deliver consumer-centric innovations in products that deliver a blend of mobility, performance and price,” comments Bai Peng, vice president and general manager, IdeaPad Business Unit, Lenovo. “Customers don’t just want a functional product, though; they also want one that speaks to their sense of style and individuality. The new Lenovo IdeaPad S Series laptops give everyday consumers exactly what they need by matching small size and light weight with the power needed for everything from Web browsing to productivity tasks, all in an affordable package.”

The company has designed these rigs with the future in mind. On launch, the Windows 7 Home Professional OS will run the show. However, users can switch over to the latest Microsoft platform through the Windows 8 Upgrade Offer. Complementing this is a touchpad that’s designed for the upcoming software iteration from the Redmond giant, which is said to deliver enhanced scrolling and zooming, while text input needs are catered to by the AccuType keyboard.
