Lenovo has announced that its Vibe smartphone series, the Vibe X and Z, will soon be treated to Android 4.4.2 KitKat in India. What’s more, the company has reduced the retail price for the former handset, making it available for purchase at Rs 22,999.
The Android 4.4.2 KitKat update will bring in various enhancements to both smartphones. On the Vibe X, the company promises better application compatibility and security enhancements as well as bug fixes. The UI will be given a makeover and the camera performance will be improved as well, to offer better images through enhanced auto-focus and white balance. Additionally, the Lenovo power manager tool will be upgraded for higher battery efficiency and the overall performance should increase by 15% to 20%.
Where the Lenovo Vibe Z is concerned, the smartphone will receive a noticeable performance boost where you’ll be treated to smoother UI transitions, better 4k video playback and more. The company will also throw in a multi-window mode where two applications can be accessed simultaneously and they can even be resized. The Vibe Z is the company’s flagship phone offering top-of-the-line hardware, while the X model has slightly toned-down specs.

Lenovo notes that the Android 4.4.2 KitKat update for the Vibe series will commence from next week. The firmware will be rolled out in phases. The new price for the Vibe X has been reflected on the company’s online store, while the Vibe Z is currently retailing for Rs 33,999.
