Lenovo announces ThinkPad W700 mobile workstation

Lenovo has unleashed ThinkPad W700 Mobile Workstation, the ‘beast’ as it calls it. The ThinkPad W700 is a 17-inch wide-screen mobile workstation powered up by what it calls the first in the market technologies and innovations like NVIDIA Quadro FX mobile graphics and next generation Intel Core 2 Extreme Quad Core processor technology.

Designed and crafted for the graphic-intensive users, the workstation is all set to throw a powerful performance with a high speed of DDR3 memory at 8GB, multimedia capabilities with support for Blu-ray DVD burner/player.

“Lenovo has engineered a new breed of mobile workstation with the ThinkPad W700,” said Peter Hortensius, senior vice president, Notebook Business Unit, Lenovo. “No other PC manufacturer has a mobile workstation that delivers the sheer power, performance and cutting-edge innovation that Lenovo has packed into the ThinkPad W700. Gone are the days of compromise as the ThinkPad W700 mobile workstation flat out delivers performance our customers demand at the desk as well as in the field.”

The ThinkPad W700 can also be equipped with an additional 2GB of Intel Turbo Memory. The powerful workstation runs on the Intel vPro technology, armed with dual internal hard drives plus a solid state drive storage. With NVIDIA Quadro FX 2700M and 3700M Open GL graphics processors with up to 1 GB of dedicated video memory, the W700 claims to give an exceptional performance. Also comes with is the option of configuring the hard drives for RAID 0 for faster data back-up or the RAID 1 for mirrored data storage system.

Additional features include WiFi wireless connectivity, Bluetooth and ultra wideband technology. Other than these, there are also features like Dual Link DVI, Display Port and VGA. A 7-in-1 multicard reader, and five USB ports, WiMAX support in future models, BIOS/port disablement, optional fingerprint reader, smartcard reader and hard drives with full-disk encryption, 20 certifications from independent software vendors.

The Lenovo ThinkPad W700 mobile workstation will be available by September with a price range starting from $2,978 via the Lenovo Business Partners and www.lenovo.com.
